What will I find on Jelly Toast?
Recently, I have decided to tackle the project of cooking and baking my way through my family's recipes. This includes recipes from my mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, as well as recipes from my husband's family. Because this isn't my only goal in life (although it is consuming a lot of brain power currently), you will also find my original recipes and adapted recipes from some of my favorite blogs, books and magazines. In the case of adapted recipes, there will be links to the original for you to check out. A craft, kitchen disaster or musing might also sneak in from time to time.

Why Jelly Toast?
Have you tried it? It's super tasty.

Do you have a cooking background?
No, my background is in Art Education, but I now stay at home with my kids. I have no professional cooking experience, I've just loved it forever. Now that I think about it, cooking for toddlers should count for something. Luckily, I'm blessed with pretty good eaters, so, it hasn't been too much of a power struggle. They willingly indulge me, unless there's too much heat in the enchiladas. Then it's all over.

Who takes all of the photos?
Unless otherwise noted, all of the photos on Jelly Toast were taken by yours truly. Food photography is a growing obsession of mine, and I learn something new everyday. If you are looking to learn more about food photography, I highly recommend the book From Plate to Pixel: Digital Food Photography and Styling by Helene Dujardin of the blog Tartelette. I'm not getting paid to say that, I just like to pass things on that I love.

Are your recipes tested by legions of hungry food critics and recipe reviewers?
No, I test each recipe at least once. They get run by my family (husband, 2 year old and 4 year old) and some of my extended family and friends. If it turns out great the first time, I will type it up. If it needs tweaking, I will tweak away and try it again. If you find a problem, I would be happy to help you work it out.

Did you have an Etsy shop?
Yes! I did and still do have an Etsy shop, but am currently taking a break from that avenue to pursue this blog; sharing my kitchen and life adventures with you. Stay tuned, however, sewing and stitchery will appear from time to time right here on the blog.

There is a typo or mispelled word. Can I tell you about it?
Sure! But to be quite honest, if you're looking for shock value, there won't be much. I am a notoriously terrible speller, and spell check can only check so much. I blame first grade phonics.

Um...so what's with the tiger/puma/baby jaguar afghan on the couch in your picture?
You'll have to ask my parents. I'm positive I didn't pick that out. Well, almost positive. Judging by my outfit in the picture in question, I may have played more of a role than I'm willing to admit here.
